Trevor is irreplaceable. How do you respond to losing a person like this?

We remember Trevor through hosting an Annual Memorial Golf Tournament with all of Trevor’s friends, family and friends of friends that helps us keep his spirit alive and benefits mental health charities.

This year, we will be donating the proceeds from the tournament to Active Minds whose mission is to mobilize youth and young adults to lead a transformative movement in mental health, forever changing how it is valued and prioritized in society. By equipping, connecting, and amplifying the collective and diverse voices of youth and young adults, Active Minds is building a movement of lasting champions who are improving mental health norms for all.

Remembering Trevor...

Trevor Kononenko was a best friend to many of us and a truly irreplaceable soul that we try to carry with us and honor each day as best we can because in his 24 years, he always cared about all of us more than himself. Trevor was one of the first people to teach me to be vulnerable, talk about my emotions, and to try to stop being so focused on what other people think. My development in these areas of myself has been the most beneficial thing I have ever experienced in my life. Trevor was an emotionally intelligent and mental health pioneer.

Our conversations starting back in college about topics that I always hid from others has catapulted me into someone who highlights and celebrates uniqueness, mental health destigmatization, and tries to help others experience the same benefits from focusing on these things that I did. I wouldn’t be the person I am without Trevor, and I know that dozens and dozens of other individuals would say the same. Trevor was my first call for advice, my first call to tell a funny story, someone I talked to everyday, and I miss him every day.

Trevor lifted each and every person up in his relationship with them the same way that Active Minds fosters strong, meaningful, and vulnerable conversations. I believe that Trevor would have supported Active Minds whole-heartedly as he pushed me to break my stigma around mental health and talk about many of the things that are important in life.

Let’s help others talk about and get help with their mental health on behalf of Trevor.
